What you will need:
A one liter pitcher
Two and a half cups of cold water
Three tablespoons of hibiscus
One tablespoon of rosehips
Two teaspoons of organic sugar or honey
How to make:
In a medium pot, you will want to pour your two and a half cups of water. Bring the water to a boil. When the water has come to a boil cut off the heat and put the hibiscus and rosehips into the pot. Let the herbs steep lidded, for ten minutes. Then strain the herbs from the water. Pour your now herbal infused water into a pitcher and add your honey or organic sugar and stir. Then top off the pitcher with more water. Put it in the refrigerator and let cool for four hours. Then drink and enjoy.
Hibiscus in Egypt means “plant that is consecrated to the ibis”. Hibiscus is a refreshing and cooling herb. Hibiscus is loaded with antioxidants rutin, polyphenols, and anthocyanins. Hibiscus is an herb that has been used for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coughs and chest problems.
Rosehip is also called rose haw. Rosehip has a tart flavor. Rosehip contains lutein, zeaxanthin, carotenoids, lyconpene and beta carotene. Rosehip has been commonly used to make jams,jellies and pies and even marmalade. It is an herb that has been used for pain that comes from arthritis, for vitamin c deficiencies and it has also been used for the treatment of colds and flu.
Make sure you are buying your herbs organic. Make sure that the honey you are buying is a raw and organic honey. If you use organic sugar you can use organic cane sugar or organic stevia in this herbal recipe.
